    -QUIKSILVER womens-

Quiksilver Launching New Women's Clothing Line Quiksilver is "banking on a clothing line aimed at 20-something women to help the company branch out," according to Nicholas Casey of the WALL STREET JOURNAL. The new line, which will be sold at the company's retail stores as well as Nordstrom, will include sweaters and jeans priced around $40-100 and will keep the brand's name and logo. Quiksilver's new line will "face competition from established women's brands" including Urban Outfitter's Anthropologie and Liz Claiborne's Lucky Brand Jeans, which also are vying "for the attention of retailers." The line "marks a change in tack for the company," as its original line of wetsuits and swimsuits was aimed at teenage boys who "identified with surf and skate cultures." The company also is facing the "possibility of alienating a company's original consumer." Ocean Pacific lost "much of its cachet in the 1990s after it branched into other categories," and eventually was bought-out by N.Y.-based Iconix Brand Group. However, author Matt Warshaw "doesn't see the same happening to Quiksilver." He said that the company has "'squared the circle' between surf and mainstream fashion while remaining cool among 'core' surfers." Casey reports Quiksilver's apparel and footwear revenue rose 19% last year to $2B, "making up the bulk of the company's $2.43[B] overall revenue" (WALL STREET JOURNAL, 3/6).

    KIKI LEE Monteparnasse

I have given birth to a 3lbs. teacup yorkie puppy her name is KIKI LEE Monteparnasse, after her two name sake muses of surrealist photographer man rayand because i spent sometime in Monteparnasse one cold cold winter in the 18th.

    Kiki de Monteparnass

Alice Ernestine Prin (October 2, 1901 – April 29, 1953), was a French artists' model, nightclub singer, actress, and painter. Her chosen name was simply Kiki, but she also was referred to as Reine de la Montparnasse, the Queen of Montparnasse, and Kiki de Montparnasse. She flourished in, and helped define, the liberated culture of Paris in the 1920s.
Kiki became a fixture in the Montparnasse social scene and a popular artists' model, posing for dozens of artists, including Chaim Soutine, Tsuguharu Foujita, Francis Picabia, Jean Cocteau, Arno Breker, Alexander Calder, Per Krohg, Hermine David, Pablo Gargallo, Mayo, and Tono Salazar. Moise Kisling painted a portrait of Kiki titled Nu assis, one of his best known.
Man Ray, her companion for most of the 1920s, made hundreds of portraits of her. She is the subject of some of his best-known images, including Le violon d'Ingres and Noire et blanche.
She appears in nine short and often experimental films, including Fernand Léger's Ballet mécanique without any credit.

HER MIDDLE NAME IS LEE after LEE MILLER man rays other muse

Elizabeth 'Lee' Miller (23 April 1907 - 21 July 1977) was an American photographer. Born in Poughkeepsie, New York State in 1907, she was a successful fashion model in New York City in the 1920s before going to Paris where she became an established fashion and fine art photographer. During the Second World War, she became an acclaimed war correspondent for Vogue magazine covering events such as the London Blitz, the liberation of Paris, and the concentration camps at Buchenwald and Dachau.

In 1929 she traveled to Paris with the intention of apprenticing herself to the Surrealist artist and photographer Man Ray. Although, at first, he insisted that he did not take students, Miller soon became his photographic assistant, as well as his lover and muse. While she was in Paris, she began her own photographic studio, often taking over Man Ray's fashion assignments to enable him to concentrate on his painting. In fact, many of the photographs taken during this period and credited to Man Ray were actually taken by Lee. Together with Man Ray, she rediscovered the photographic technique of Solarisation. She was an active participant in the Surrealist movement, with her witty and humorous images

she became a prolific photographer for the WWll her is one of her shots of a soldier

"tHE SARTORIALIST " just call me "bruiser"

    http://thesartorialist.blogspot.com/

THIS WHAT THE SARTORIALIST POSTED(my name is C.C. NOT CECE)

I met CeCe (an aspiring singer) last week in LA while I was shooting a separate project.

I loved her look and knew immediately I had to shoot her. We did a few shots on Hollywood Blvd which came out very nicely.

On our walk back CeCe spotted Spiderman and said "I want my picture taken with him!"

Actually when we first spotted Spidey he wasn't wearing his mask and he was sitting on his luggage looking like a Marvel comic drawn by Diane Arbus.

Afterwards I kicked myself for not taking the shot of him sitting alone and looking so forlorn but the scene was too depressing for me to start the whole process of taking a portrait.

great shoes but not with that dress. those are for dries van noten autumn clothes.

her shins are so completely bruised, she looks like nancy spungeon from the knee down.

i too would have preferred the arbus-esque portrait of spidey.

I like the striped fabric of her clothes, and I like her shoes. I like her 'attitude' too (though who doesn't play up for the camera these days?) And she has an interesting face.

However, in my humble opinion, the bruises on her legs seriously detract from the positives. They make her look unhealthy. Perhaps it makes a bit of a talking point though? When random people come up and ask how she got the bruises, she could make up some cool story about fighting stealth ninjas in her sleep, or something.

I think the shoes contribute to an interesting 'vintage' vibe, vintage as in 1890s. Upon first glance at the picture I noticed the way in which she is wearing her hair, the long-legged jumpsuit (reminiscent of a onepiece wool bathingsuit shape) and the old-schoolyness of the shoes.
Of course upon closer inspection the henna'd hands, towering heel and ethnic stripes clarify that it isn't a vintage get-up. Which all contrasts beautifully with spidey.

The harshness of the black shoes makes the bruises on her legs show up more. This is why women used to wear pantyhose, to hide such defects. Also, the black shoes, while very cool on their own, don't seem to go with the sporty, sherbert-colored jumpsuit.
I love getting my hands and feet hennaed. It's such a calming experience.

i like her bruises. it shows that she's not afraid to get hurt while singing (probably) lovely and dramatic verse. she is an artist and doesn't conform to fashion dos and don'ts. she looks great..so does spidey there - protecting her no doubt. nice.

Love the picture. Spidey looks like he got caught off guard. He's out of spidey webs or something. He should be smoking a cig, he'd look cooler.

As for Ce Ce. What a pretty girl. I absolutely hate her clothes, head to toe. Fortunately for her she's too cute for most folks to care that she's dressed like a circus act who just fell out of bed.

Why do people think that 'cause it's Los Angeles ANYTHING goes? She's probably not even from L.A. just moved here so that she can walk around in her jammies and no one would care.

    Come on.

I agree with ‘Anonymous’ (above): this photo is genius. The mirrored pose, the one-suit outfits, subtle color matches, the eyes...just brilliant. Works on so many levels, not least because of the background story. Wonderful. A real classic and an unforgettable image.
    Many congratulations!

PLEASE BE PREPARED FOR THE SING A LONG
    TONIGHTS SONG

    Sin City lyrics
    (Graham Parsons/Chris Hillman)

This old town is filled with sin

    It'll swallow you in

If you've got some money to burn

    Take it home right away

You've got three years to pay

And Satan is waiting his turn

The scientists say it'll all wash away

    But we don't believe anymore

    'Cause we've got our recruits

    In their green mohair suits

So please show your I.D. at the door

    Chorus:

This old earthquake's gonna leave me in the poorhouse

It seems like this whole town's insane

On the thirty-first floor your gold-plated door

Won't keep out the Lord's burning rain

A fool came around tried to clean up this town

His ideas made some people mad

But he trusted in his crowd

So he spoke right out loud

And they lost the best friend they ever had

    Chorus

On the thirty-first floor your gold-plated door

Won't keep out the Lord's burning rain
